Marta Minujín is an Argentinian conceptual and performance artist famous for her bold, often controversial, work that blends pop art, politics and spectacle. An icon of Latin American avant-garde, one of her most prominent pieces is El Partenón de libros prohibidos (The Parthenon of Books). A monumental replica of the Greek Parthenon built from thousands of books banned during the Argentinian dictatorship. First staged in Buenos Aires in 1983 to celebrate the return of democracy, and later reimagined in Kassel, Germany in 2017, the work stands as a powerful symbol of intellectual freedom and resistance to censorship.

In a space where resources are scarce and misconceptions still run deep, the initiative is tackling the myth that creative jobs aren’t “real” jobs. This September, the duo behind RUDE - which funnily include Skew’s former Creative Director Abi Meats - will launch ‘CREATE!’, a bold new book featuring insights from 50 mentors across disciplines and packed with illustrations and real-world advice. It’s a vibrant, accessible guide to the creative industries, made for the next generation of creatives.
