TL:DR Skew’s creative team shares their insights, inspiration and intelligence on everything design and branding.""

For the return of The View from Skew the team got together to share unknown artists, creative communities and design resources that have inspired them recently.

Quick hits of inspiration

  • We’re loving this case study from How Studio showcasing their work on the rebrand of The Wombles.
  • Louna Humbert is a graphic designer based in Paris. Working in super fresh colour palettes, we particularly noticed her original use of typography and texture. Check out her website here.
  • During our research into Gen-Z audiences we came across this extensive gift guide by Glamour highlighting brands that are resonating with younger consumers.

Matias Alonso Revelli was an unknown photographer living in a province of Argentina until Coldplay came knocking on his door. He was contacted by the band with a request to use one of his images as the cover art for their latest album, Moon Music (2024). They introduced him to their long-time Art Director Pilar Zeta to create the overall aesthetic. As part of the album launch they also hosted an immersive experience at Ischigualasto Provincial Park (Argentina), a place that looks like it’s straight off the surface of the moon. Fans were treated to the new music while stunning projections lit up the unique landscape.

Jessica Walsh is a force in the design world, known for her bold, feminist and political work. Beyond her agency &Walsh, she’s also made a huge impact with a number of community-focused initiatives. One of the most well-known is Ladies, Wine & Design (LWD), which started back in 2016. What began as a casual meet-up in her apartment to connect women over wine and design chats has exploded into a global movement. Today, LWD has over 280 local chapters offering free mentorship, networking, and events for women, non-binary, and underrepresented creatives.

Pinterest has been glitchy lately so we’ve been on the hunt for alternative sources of inspiration. Whilst exploring, we came across Pattern Club. It’s not as flexible as Pinterest—there’s no open search option—but you can still dive into preset categories that are filled with fresh pattern ideas. It’s a curated gallery that’s pretty handy when you’re looking for moodboard references. Definitely worth a bookmark for any designer!
